Auger Drilling

Dedicated high torque auger rig powered by a Toyota Landcruiser p.t.o pump. This unique setup has capacity to spin augers over 300mm diameter making it ideal for site classification and pavement test pits.
This drilling method is incredibly versatile, commonly used in environmental, geotechnical, dewatering, and construction projects. It's ideal for soil boring, setting wells, collecting groundwater, gathering geological and geochemical data. Available CFA's are currently 115mm, 150mm, 225mm, 300mm diameters.

Shelby Tube Sampling

Shelby sampling for a variety of sizes. Ideal for environmental and site class analysis. The thin-walled seamless steel tubes are typically used to take undisturbed samples for routine site investigation works. The tube is pushed/driven into the soil using adapters attached to Auger rig.

Soil Classification

Logging of soils and gravels as per AS1726:2017. AS 1726:2017
Establishes the requirements for the execution of effective geotechnical site investigations and provides a standardized system for the description and classification of soils and rocks, which is largely normative. It addresses spatial and physical characteristics of soil, rock and groundwater.

Lithological Identification

Drill rig supervision and geological logging is undertaken by a qualified Senior Geologist or Engineering Geologist. Whether for civil engineering purposes or to update the mine model, Hunter Earth Data can provide all field activities for the ID, sampling (Geotechnical, geochemical, UCS, coal quality), geophysical correlation and interpretation. Lithological logging will be undertaken in either AS 1726 or coallog formats.

Concrete Coring

Horizontal and Vertical core drilling. Hunter Earth Data only use the highest quality equipment for all operational activities, saving the client time and money. Current barrels range in diameters from 20mm to 200mm.

Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) Testing
DCP testing is a practical and cost method for assessing soil strength. This test measures penetration resistance by driving a metal cone into the ground using a repeated weight strike. By providing a clear indication of a material’s in-situ resistance to penetration, the DCP is essential for on-site soil strength evaluation and pavement/soil condition monitoring. It's an invaluable tool for engineers and geotechnical investigations.

Multi-Parameter Water Quality Field Analysis

The submersible water quality data logger is a versatile and reliable device designed for remote monitoring and logging multiple water quality parameters in aquatic environments. It is a powerful tool for conducting research, monitoring water quality in aquatic operations, with sensors for temperature, EC ms/cm, EC us/cm, Salinity, Turbidity, DO, ORP and pH.

Bulk Sampling

Our team utilize boring machines, alongside backhoes and excavators where necessary, to conduct shallow test pits for bulk sampling work. After completing the test pitting, we ensure thorough reinstatement and compaction of the test holes using a plate or jumping jack compactor. We take pride in using high-quality gravel or roadbase materials combined with cold mix to achieve optimal results. All lab testing (CBR, PSD, PI, etc.) is outsourced to a NATA accredited partner.
